Did I Mention I Love You by Estelle Maskame is a young adult romance novel that follows the story of Eden Munro, a 16-year-old girl who travels to Santa Monica to spend the summer with her estranged father and his new family. While there, she meets and falls for her stepbrother, Tyler Bruce, and the two embark on a forbidden romance.

Did I Mention I Love You Book Review

The book’s plot is well-paced, with a mix of drama, romance, and family tension that keeps the reader engaged. The characters are well-developed, each with a unique voice and backstory.

The romance between Eden and Tyler is both steamy and heartfelt, with the chemistry between the characters palpable from their first meeting. The book explores themes of love, family, and self-discovery in a realistic and relatable way.
However, I greatly enjoyed the “interactions” between Eden and Tyler. I mean, they’re teens. They try to figure it out, and sh*t happens.
Tyler comes from an abusive relationship, but it still doesn’t help when he cheats on his girlfriend. In, that’s a real red flag here.

The writing style is accessible and easy to read, making the book a great choice for young adult romance novels fans. The book’s setting in Santa Monica also adds to its appeal, with the California beach town providing a vivid backdrop for the characters’ story.

Final Thoughts

It is a well-written and engaging romance novel that will appeal to fans of the genre. It’s a book that captures the excitement and angst of first love while exploring deeper themes of family and self-discovery.

From my teen self’s view: I loved the first read of the book. Even the re-read was still enjoyable. But I also understand when you don’t like such stories.
They gave me something to think about, which I usually enjoy. However, the drama doesn’t have to be, and I’m just not that big of a drama fan anymore.
However, the story goes on. Check out my review for Did I Mention I Need You (DIMILY #2).
