Top Ten Thursday is a weekly event by Weltenwanderer that lists a simple top 10 of a specific category each week. Today, I have about 10 books off my TBR list, which I plan to finish this year.
Well, as I have to say, I have more than 10 books on my TBR corpses, so I tried to choose these, which are either the longest on the list or seem tempting to me at the moment I write this post.

I am really excited to read them. I didn’t put biographies on this list because I hardly read them and when I do, I need time with them, so I don’t pressure myself.
In the end, those are “only” 10 books. I’m curious of how many of them I actually get to read!

Freut mich dass du jetzt direkt mitgemacht hast 🙂
Und ich hab deine Eingangsworte sogar alle verstanden *lach* Ich hab ja leider wenig Englischkenntnisse (mein Schulenglisch ist 20 Jahre her), aber ich hab dieses Jahr angefangen auf englisch zu lesen. Zwar “nur” Kinderbücher, also so für das Lesealter zwischen 8 und 12, aber ich muss sagen ich komme gut mit und stelle fest, dass dabei viele Wörter haften bleiben!
The Hobbit ist übrigens auch auf meiner englischen Liste dabei. Ich hab mir Bücher notiert die in Frage kommen und da ich hier das deutsche schon kenne denke ich, werde ich hier gut mitkommen. Momentan lese ich allerdings noch die Gregor Reihe von Suzanne Collins im Original (diese Reihe liebe ich und hab sie mehrmals auf deutsch gelesen), aber danach könnte durchaus der Hobbit drankommen 🙂
Die anderen Bücher kenne ich alle nicht. Von “Dune” hab ich natürlich gehört, aber das reizt mich nicht so.
Und von Jojo Moyes hab ich “Ein ganzes halbes Jahr” gelesen. Das ist eigentlich gar nicht so mein Beuteschema, aber durch den jahrelangen Hype bin ich irgendwann doch neugierig geworden. Mir hat es gefallen 😉

Es freut mich, dass ich mitmachen kann! Hab mich tatsächlich schon ziemlich auf den Beitrag gefreut. Für die Nächsten muss ich dann auf ältere Fragen zurück greifen, haha
Das ist natürlich super! Ich versuche da ja ein gewisses Niveau beizubehalten. Keine Angst, ich schreib garantiert nicht im Stil einer naturwissenschaftlichen Doktorarbeit, das wäre nicht angebracht für den Durchschnittsleser 😀
So als Geheimtipp, zum Einen ja, Bücher im Original lesen, die man auf Deutsch schon kennt sind eine sehr gute Idee. Zum Anderen oder eventuell gemischt mit dem Ersten, Bücher/ Artikel/ Zeitschriften/ Magazine, die einem vielleicht nicht so interessieren und wo es kein Problem ist, wenn man nicht alle Wörter direkt versteht. Blog Artikel zählen da natürlich auch 😀
Das ständige Übersetzen wird irgendwann nervig aber mit dem Lesen kommt auch der Zusammenhang 🙂

“Dune” is schon eine ziemliche Stufe höher. Das ist aber auch extrem alt, wodurch es sich wieder etwas erklärt. “Me before You” Ist tatsächlich der Originaltitel von “Ein ganzes Halbes Jahr”. Hatte nicht geplant, es mir zu holen aber es war ständig vor meiner Nase, irgendwann hatte ich komplett vergessen, dass ich es nicht holen wollte aber lesen sollte ich es trotzdem, hihi

That’s great! I try to keep it simple; not everyone’s on the same level, native speaker or not 😀
There’re lots of books that are pretty simple to read. I wouldn’t count “Dune” to them, but “American Marriage” might be, “Dare To Fall” and Ali Hazelwood‘s books are quite a simple read, and “The Hobbit” is supposed to be for children, so it should work as well 🙂
As an insider tip, on the one hand, yes, reading books in the original that you already know in German (or your mother tongue) is a very good idea. On the other hand, or possibly mixed with the first, books/ articles/ journals/ magazines that might not interest you that much and where it’s not a problem if you don’t understand all the words directly. Blog articles also count, of course 😀
The constant translating gets annoying at some point, but with reading comes the context 🙂

“Dune” is a bit older and complexer to read. WOuldn’t recommend that for beginners. “Me Before You” is indeed the Original Titel to “Ein ganzes halbes Jahr”. I never wanted to read it, but it constantly appeared in front of my nose and someday, I just took it with me haha.

Ah, siehste mal, das wusste ich nicht dass das der Originaltitel von Jojo Moyes ist 😀
Ich hab mich ja aufs englisch lesen schon vorbereitet und seit Oktober letztes Jahr schau ich Filme und Serien (die ich schon kenne) nochmal auf englisch mit deutschen Untertiteln. Das hat mir sehr geholfen für den Einstieg.
Ich hab die ersten drei Harry Potter Bände durch – und beim 3. hab ich schon gemerkt, dass es etwas schwieriger wird. Mit Band 4 werde ich also noch etwas warten.
Mittlerweile hab ich aber auch schon 3 mir unbekannte Bücher gelesen und das ging tatsächlich gut! Halt auch für das Lesealter so um die 10 Jahre, Fantasy Abenteuer, das hat echt besser geklappt als ich dachte. So viel nachschlagen mag ich nicht, weil ich dann die Lust verliere – und damit die Motivation. Deshalb werde ich jetzt erstmal wohl bei dem Lesealter bleiben.
Auf Magazine oder Zeitschriften hätte ich jetzt ehrlich gesagt gar keine Lust, die lese ich schon seit Ewigkeiten gar nicht ^^
Den Explorers Club hab ich mir notiert von Alex Bell, ich glaub die Reihe gefällt mir.
Von Tintenherz kommt ja Ende des Jahres ein neuer Band – da möchte ich die ersten drei nochmal lesen – aber eben jetzt auf englisch 😀
Von Sophie Anderson hab ich mir auch noch eins notiert – und The Hobbit und Percy Jackson … da ist also genug vorhanden für dieses Jahr um mich in die Sprache “einzulesen” 😀

Bei Harry Potter weiß ich, dass es durch die ganze Fantasy bzw dieverwendeten Begriffe ein bisschen komplex werden kann. Hab ich auch noch vor zu lesen. Game of Thrones wollte ich auch endlich mal anfangen, das bringt ja auch einiges ein 😀

With Harry Potter, I know that it can get a bit complex because of all the fantasy and the terms used. I still plan to read it. I also wanted to finally start Game of Thrones, which also brings in a lot 😀
Also die magischen Begriffe in Harry Potter finde ich tatsächlich nicht so schlimm, die sind eher allgemein verständlich – zumindest für mich 😀
Schwierig waren vor allem die Zutaten in Zaubertränke *lach*
Aber es wird allgemein schwieriger, das englisch. Die ersten beiden Bände sind ja Kinderbücher und die Reihe wird schon anspruchsvoller, je älter Harry wird.

Ich möchte irgendwann mal soweit sein, dass ich die Scheibenweltbücher von Terry Pratchett im Original lesen kann

damit erschöpft es sich auch, obwohl wir ja gerade eine Woche in London waren. Gelesen habe ich der Hobbit und Dune. Bei Tchaikovsky bin ich mir nicht sicher wie der Totel auf deutsch heißt aber von ihm habe ich auch einige Bücher schon gelesen. Zombies sind absolut nich meins, daher meide ich Bücher und Serie.
