65 movie – After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills quickly discovers he’s stranded on Earth – 65 Million years ago. Now, with only one chance at a rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Kia, must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures.

65 Movie Review

I read the description, but that was it, and I watched it because of nothing else actually either being more interesting or sth I haven’t watched yet.

Since Mills had people on the ship who would also speak different languages, and through the crash, the translator breaks, creating a language barrier between him and Koa. As the girl picks up some words here and there, it seems fine most of the time, but in really dangerous situations, that backfires quite quickly.

As it is an entertaining movie with some funny parts, for me, it didn’t flash me and was over pretty fast as well. I guess it’s one of those that are funny, but you’d most likely watch them for a specific actor, Adam Driver, to do something exciting. I’d say fighting dinosaurs would be it in this case.
As I didn’t know Adam as an actor, it wasn’t the reason why I watched the movie.

Although we’re thankful for the shorter running time, it is quite a lot to pack in a 90-minute film. Since they crashed on the planet with dinosaurs as their predators, it is also precisely due to the time the meteor was about to hit the earth. This means that the two of them have to keep an eye out for prehistoric carnivores and beat a ticking clock to reach their only chance to rescue in time.

Final Thoughts

65 can be seen as entertaining and giving most of the audience exactly what they want.
However, it didn’t convince me. Even if there’s a chance of being a sequel, I wouldn’t go with it.

Driver, going toe on-toe with some big creatures, does give it all. Although the ending feels a bit underwhelming, the movie ends as expected, which is not quite faultable.
