Migration 2023 – A family of ducks tries to convince their overprotective father and head of the family to go on the journey of a lifetime.

I hadn’t realized Illumination was getting better and even doing movies other than Minions and Despicable Me, as I didn’t know the Super Mario Bros. movie was one of their productions. Admittedly, I haven’t seen any of those movies yet.

However, I watched Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which disappointed me quite a bit, and the same for The Lion King live–action movie.

Migration 2023 Movie Review

Migration is the story of a family of ducks living in a pond. Mac, the head of the family, has no interest in migrating for the winter or seeing new places. However, when they meet a flock of migrating ducks, Mac’s family wants to migrate too. When Uncle Dan finally convinces Mac it might do them good to experience new adventures, Mac agrees, so the family heads out on their first adventure to Jamaica.

The movie offers a simple story with lovable characters, none seemingly annoying but all having their positives to go along with.

The relationship between father and son is much better than how Disney treats their characters.
As all of them are lovable, I empathized with each. The movie allows for great character development and offers a good story. The animation is great, and it offers a sequel. I very much hope they go with it!

There are many adventures in the film. When traveling to different cities or countries, they are very colorful, bright, and fun! These places are beautiful, the environment is great, and they are very creative.

The characters are very lovable and charming. We have Father Duck, who starts acting like a strict dad and wants to stay in the pond at first, but then changes his mind and wants to go on an adventure, making him a very sweet and loving personality. Next is Mother Duck; she wants to see the world and can be very crazy and intense at times, but she has great qualities. Then, son, he is a brave and charming character. He never fears anything and truly cares about his family and the other birds around him. And the daughter, she is so cute and funny and sometimes gets scared but has a brave heart.

Even Uncle Dan is funny. He carries the whole movie and has a lot of personality. They also meet some interesting characters and personalities along their trip.

The villain in the film is also very good. The villain carries the whole movie and is much more interesting than the Disney villains today. The villain also has a lot of character, which is a very interesting storyline.

Final Thoughts

It is a great, funny, and very good animated movie with adorable characters and a good story. It’s fun to watch and gives an alternative to how characters and relationships in a movie can be handled.

The dialogue is great, and overall, the movie offers the thought-provoking message of the need to let go and embrace the uncertainties of the future.
The animation also runs amazingly, and I love the style.

Do I recommend the movie? Absolutely, yes.
Would I re-watch it? Absolutely! I see myself on a yearly re-watch of that one.
