Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Movie Review

For me, Spirit is one of those movies I constantly watch in a regular manner. I grew up with it and love it ’til this very day.

Directed by Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook, and featuring the voices of Matt Damon and James Cromwell, the movie is a powerful and moving tribute to the strength and resilience of the American spirit.

The film’s animation is breathtaking, with richly detailed landscapes and realistic depictions of the natural world that immerse the viewer in the story’s setting. The character animation is equally impressive, with expressive and lifelike movements that bring the animals to life on the screen. And that’s all from a really old movie.

At its core, “Spirit” is a story about the bonds of family and the importance of fighting for what you believe in. The movie’s themes of perseverance, courage, and self-discovery are communicated through the captivating story of Spirit, a wild stallion who refuses to be tamed by human captors.

The film’s score, composed by Hans Zimmer and featuring Bryan Adams, adds a layer of emotional depth and resonance to the story, with powerful and moving songs that enhance the film’s already stirring visuals.

The relationship between the main characters, a wild stallion named Spirit, and his human companion Little Creek is heartwarming and adds an extra layer of depth to the story. As the mustang isn’t interested in the two-legged creature at all, at first. They later on develop a heartwarmingly friendship.

The movie has a strong message about the importance of freedom and the dangers of captivity, which is conveyed through the story and the characters’ actions.
Back then, horses got captured and used for all kind of work. Nowadays, there’re hardly any wild horses around. It’s important to keep in mind, what captivity actually means. And it gets told in a great way.

The movie tells an epic story of survival, adventure, and self-discovery, with plenty of action and excitement to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Even tho, the main character is a horse, or especially because of that, he goes through his journey because he was too noisy and couldn’t stay away. But in the end, it all gave him a journey, friendship and love.

Final Thoughts

Overall, “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” is a cinematic masterpiece that is sure to captivate viewers of all ages. With its stunning animation, moving story, and inspiring themes, the film is a timeless classic that will continue to be celebrated and cherished for years to come.

I love Spirit ever since I was a child and even tho I’m a grown up now, I’m still re-watching it regularly whenever I feel like it. Myself loves horses a lot and the whole movie is about what humans can do and what it actually means to be free.
