Why did I choose to play Detroit Become Human?

For me, I already out my eye on the game when I first saw it – possibly – at the E3 as it was still a thing back then. The whole concept of human-like robots within the human world, rights, jobs for them and so on, was instantly interesting for me.
Didn’t disappoint me one bit, I love that game so much.

The Basics

Detroit Become Human puts the destiny of both mankind and androids in your hands, taking you to a near future where machines have become more intelligent than humans. Every choice you make affects the outcome of the game, with one of the most intricately branching narratives ever created.

What Worked

What really worked for me in Detroit Become Human is the way the narrative weaves together three distinct protagonists, each with their own storyline that gradually converges as the plot reaches its climax. It’s not just three separate stories happening in parallel — the way their paths eventually cross feels earned and impactful, tying the overarching themes together beautifully.

Each character is thrown into situations where the weight of the decision falls entirely on the player. And these aren’t just surface-level choices that don’t matter — the game constantly puts you in morally grey moments where there’s no obvious right answer. That constant pressure to choose, knowing your decision could have serious consequences, kept me deeply invested throughout the entire playthrough.

What elevates it further is how grounded the storytelling feels. Despite the sci-fi premise, the themes explored — discrimination, identity, autonomy — are strikingly realistic and deeply relatable. It doesn’t feel like far-fetched fantasy; it feels like a genuine “what if” scenario for a future that isn’t as distant as we might hope. If the world ever reaches a point where androids become part of everyday society, the ethical dilemmas this game presents don’t feel like speculation — they feel inevitable.
