The End Of Oak Street is a sci-fi movie with monster-thriller elements, by Warner Bros. Pictures and Bad Robot.
Why Did I Watch The End Of Oak Street?
For one, I did not realize there was a dino movie, I got it recommended, and decided to go for it. As a dinosaur fan™️, why not?
The Basics
After a mysterious event, the whole street is cut off from the outside world and suddenly surrounded by prehistoric animals: dinosaurs, which aggressively attack the citizens of said street.
Survival becomes the only goal as residents are trapped with creatures that shouldn’t exist in their time period. Whether it’s a temporal displacement or something stranger, the threat is immediate and relentless.
What Worked
Honestly? I can’t really answer this question at the moment. Maybe I’ll change my mind with a rewatch, but on first viewing, nothing stood out as a clear strength. The premise had potential, but execution is what carries a movie—and this one stumbled early.
Sometimes a film just doesn’t click, even when you’re willing to meet it halfway. This was one of those times.
What Didn’t
The real question might be: what did work? I couldn’t think of something significant.
The main cast did not feel strongly connected—with each other nor with me as the viewer. It’s like watching people go through motions without purpose. What are they even doing? Their stakes don’t land because their relationships don’t resonate.
Then there’s the dog. Why does it plainly look AI-generated? But the dinosaurs look so much better? Creatures that aren’t even alive versus animals that live with us—it’s backward prioritization right there. If anything should look photorealistic, it should be the contemporary elements, not the ones we know are fake anyway.
The whole plot? I can’t even tell why the whole thing happened, because there’s simply no explanation from the movie. Why did dinosaurs suddenly appear out of nowhere—or was the street pulled back a million years, as they claimed? I have no clue. No exposition, no reveal, just… dinosaurs showing up and attacking. Mystery is one thing, but basic logic is another.
The dinosaurs themselves get a point or so—they’re adequately rendered, I suppose. I’m not used to how they were portrayed in this movie, but maybe there’s more than one possible version of how they could have looked. However, I’m sad that nobody even talks about them—their individual beauty, their species, any of that. Usually, there’s one walking encyclopedia about dinos in the group who explains everything. This film robbed me of that experience too.
Final Thoughts
The movie did not get me at all, and I tried. It tried to be funny—for me, it was not. It was a mediocre movie I wouldn’t recommend or watch again.
If you’re craving dinosaur action with actual tension, character stakes, and explanations that don’t leave you squinting at the screen wondering what just happened… skip this. I’d rather re-watch Jurassic Park. At least that movie knows how to make dinosaurs terrifying and awe-inspiring while grounding everything in a story that actually makes sense.
💬 Have you seen the movie, what are your thoughts? Do you like dinosaurs?

I saw the previews and was in on this immediately, but felt very similar to you. The movie starts, and you’re asking yourself why it’s all happening rather than enjoying the fun. Too bad, we need more dinosaur movies now that Jurassic is too caught up in genetic experiment monster territory.
Yes, exactly! I’d love more dino movies, but not like this. And I honestly don’t even know what it was all about.. or why it actually happened.
