Why Did I Watch Venom The Last Dance?
For me, even though I had a feeling it’d be the last movie, I went for it anyway. Thinking, it’d give me some great finale and conclusion for the characters’ story.
The Basics
Eddie Brock and Venom are back for their final chapter together. After the events of Let There Be Carnage, the duo faces a new threat that forces them to make impossible choices about what it means to be bonded forever—or finally apart. Tom Hardy returns as both Eddie and Venom, with returning cast members including Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Peggy Lu.
What Worked
Action: I enjoyed the action sequences throughout the film. Fight scenes have improved over the trilogy, showing clearer choreography and higher stakes than previous entries. The set pieces deliver solid spectacle when they need to hit hard, and the visual effects on Venom’s design continue to hold up well.
If you’re here for punchy superhero brawls with enough CGI weight behind them, The Last Dance delivers consistently in those moments. The kinetic energy during larger battles feels polished compared to earlier installments.
What Didn’t Work
The Ending: Unfortunately, for me, the end didn’t do it at all. After building tension across what should feel like an epic conclusion, the resolution left me cold. It felt rushed, predictable, or perhaps too neat given where these characters had been brought to emotionally. A finale carrying so much weight deserved more careful handling.
Comparing the Trilogy: Out of all three movies, I like this one the least and the first one the most. Venom (2018) struck a better balance between heart, humour, and stakes. It had momentum from the start without overstaying its welcome. By contrast, The Last Dance feels stretched thin—like it needed another act to truly close things out properly.
Final Thoughts
A disappointing finale that never quite lives up to what came before.
I’d basically avoid re-watching this movie.
