www Wednesday November #5 New

www Wednesday November #5 – Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll answer the three questions below, which you’re welcome to join – leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your response!

What did you read last?
What are you currently reading?
What will you read next?

EXTENDED contains some of my last watched movies or played games.

What did you read last?

One Dark Window (The Shepherd King #1) by Rachel Gillig
— What I liked the most on this one here is that it was right on the spot. No extra dragging along or events happening that aren’t necessarily needed, no. Just straight to the point. It was a lot of fun because it got me all the right parts. However, I wouldn’t count it as one of my favorites but it got me out of my reading slump which is something.

Shield of Sparrows (Shield of Sparrows #1) by Devney Perry
— The writing style is repetitive and her constant questions were annoying. However, my curiosity got the best of it and so I finished it.
Another part I disliked was the dragging and really slow-slow-burning on the romance part. I didn’t dislike it as some other reads I had but it was close to annoy me, if I wouldn’t have liked the chemistry between Odessa and the Guardian so much.
Plus, besides the repetitiveness of the writing style, the characters were overall pretty okay.

The following I’ve read some time earlier this year and not written about, so I’ll mention them here. As past-me did not make any notes, my bad, I can’t tell what I thought about them anymore. I’ll see what I can do to summarise some of my thoughts anyway.

The Bond That Burns (Bloodwing Academy #2) by Briar Boleyn
Masquerade of Bones by J. Ember Hintz

What are you currently reading?

They’re technically still on my “currently reading” as I haven’t finished them but it’s been a couple of months, so I can’t tell if I actually want to finish them. As I would have to see if I can actually remember anything of the story or would have to re-read.

Visions of Darkness (Darkness, #1) by A.L. Jackson – 78% (June)
The Ever King (The Ever Seas, #1) by L.J. Andrews – 84% (June)
Behooved by M. Stevenson
— I’m not entirely sure I finished behooved or if I got some pages left. Either way, the horse pun was indeed given and gave me some laughs.

The Starlight Heir by Amalie Howard – 77% (January)

What will you read next?

For the following I’m curious enough to consider them as a possible next read, in no particular order. As a mood reader, I only know when I pick up my next book.

The Usher Spring by Tayloranne Worley
Blood Beneath The Snow (Blood & Souls Duology #1) by Alexandra Kennington
The Keeper Of Magical Things by Julie Leong
House of Blight (The Threadmender Chronicles #1) by Maxym M. Martineau
A Curse Carved in Bone (Saga of the Unfated #2) by Danielle L. Jensen – (maybe)
The Bridge Kingdom (The Bridge Kingdom, #1) by Danielle L. Jensen – (maybe)
Veiled Flames (A Destiny of Dragons #1) by Mara Leigh
Crescent Kingdom (The Wolves of Crescent Creek #1) by Tessa Hale
Storm of Shadows (The Firestone Academy #1) by Hannah Haze

What have I been watching over the last months?

TV Shows

When The Phone Rings – S1 – I watched it after Squid Game’s final season got out. At some point, the show got me into K-Drama, but only a bit, and I had to satisfy it. When The Phone Rings was a fun one. It should have been only half as long, as the last 2-3 episodes where more drama than anything else.
Winx – S1, S2
Bridgerton – S1, S2, S3
The Good Doctor – S1
Found S1, S2
Severance – re-watch S1, S2 – I haven’t quite figured this show out yet but am curious on watching it anyway.
Tulsa King – S1
Wednesday – S1
Detective Conan – storyline catch-up
Outlander: Blood For My Blood – S1
Outlander – S1, S2, S3, S4
9-1-1 – S1, S2
Heartland – S1, S2
Maxton Hall – re-watch S1, S2 – Such a fun re-watch of season 1. However, I found season 2 to be disappointing so far. I can’t tell what it is, as of now only four episodes got released, but it doesn’t feel quite as entertaining.
Fallen – S1
The Society – S1 – Entertaining ’til the end. I don’t entirely get some deaths, especially since I thought one of them as main cast but apparently, others taking over might just do as well. Found the finale intriguing enough to eventually continue with season 2, once it gets out.

Movies

Final Destination Bloodlines – Not entirely sure what it is, but that movie was just.. While I found the first few FD movies interesting and entertaining, this one was just kind of repeating all the features the previous ones were known and loved for.
SnowWhite – Didn’t like this one much, it just felt off at so many points.
The Good Girl
The break-up
Straw
Mothers Day
Megan 2.0

Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback – I seem to have missed the part where DC movies actually got better. Or it’s because I avoided them over the last years. Either way, all the characters I usually found to be annoyed of, aren’t so much anymore. Or well, there’re also a couple of new ones to the show.
Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween
Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram
DC movies re-watch – For the hype and main story catch-up, I also re-watched some of the older movies. As I wanted to get the proper understanding of the storyline.
I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 – I suppose for me now being able to get the idea out of the meme around this, as it seems to be a remake.
The Conjuring: Last Rites – Liked this one. I can imagine the story going on without Ed and Loraine from this point forward.
Companion – I heard about this one in a review and watched it just for the sake of it. For me, it wasn’t a gread movie.

So, it’s a bit of a longer list. I’m not watching any show in particular right now. I started Heartland and was kind of addicted, so I had to get distracted or I wouldn’t spend my free time with anything other than watching 18 seasons of Heartland.. Well, one at a time works fine as well.
As for the gaming part, I hardly touched anything for the last 6ish months. And my plan is to change that. And it was working for a while.
I will do my best to write some thoughts down on each.

What have I been playing?

Bayonetta – As a lover of hack’n’slash I love the game and its cast.
Duck Dash – Fun little on-the-go game, perfect for my SteamDeck. Sadly, I only manage to get the Tester version of the game, so I can’t actually play the real levels for some reason. Once I figured that part out, I’m sure I’ll fall in love with lil’ Dash.
Fireside Feelings – Interesting idea turned into a 2D experience. It’s mostly text based and contains “chatting” with people around the world with a little twist: It’s not in real-time, as in the responses got inserted at some point and you might respond to them. However, said player before you will never get so see them. Instead, another player will response to yours. I feel like it’s the perfect game to socialize without talking to anyone in real-time – face to face or even online.
Have A Nice Death – Started this one already around January and haven’t made much progress ever since. However, as a rougelike I wanted to get into it’s experience before heading into Hollow Knight or Hades.
Last Day of June – I postponed starting this one for a long time, since I knew it’ll be an emotional experience, and it doesn’t disappoint.
My Singing Monsters – I loved PaTaPon back then on PS Vita, so I kinda had to get into this one. It’s really fun, since every monster does their own noises and you can also turn individuals off.
Need For Speed Rivals – Personally, I love the game so much. It only annoys me to have to use the EA app for it, but for the game itself, it’s one of my favorites.
We Were Here – Doesn’t give a lot of hints or the chance of any tipps. You’d just have to figure everything out on your “own” with your partner. It was such a fun experience and I wish to continue at some point. You really have to keep talking and explaining on what you see or it’s hard for your gaming partner to continue.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Played this one some years back on my PS4 and loved it. Still do, so I had to get it again and re-play it, but this time on my SteamDeck. It’s still lots of fun and I don’t regret getting it twice.

Do you know any of the mentioned books, movies or video games? Have you consumed any or is it on your list?

    1. They’re truly adorable! The only aspect I don’t particularly like are in-game sales. But it looks so much fun!

  1. I have only been in a reading slump once when I was pregnant with my second son. The book that got me out of it I still hold in high esteem (Promise Me by Jill Mansell).

Watching TV doesn’t really happen these days anymore. We watch TV for a bit in the evening, but as the dudes are around it is more game show. I have however managed to watch Bridgerton. I am looking forward to the next series!

Enjoy the books that you are currently reading!

    1. Well, it does sound interesting!

Oh yes! From what I know, next season is splitted in two parts, one coming out in January, part two in February. I’m excited!
Thank you, happy reading to you!
