Book Date January 2025: Reading Update & Wrap-Up

Last updated on June 12th, 2026 at 10:46 am

IMWAYR – It’s Monday What Are You Reading? A place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date.

So far, I haven’t read anything this year, so my last reads are from 2024, which I don’t necessarily mind to mention here. I could go on, as I haven’t had a wrap up in months, even though I planned them not only once.
However, I hope you all had a nice start into 2025! Or those who celebrate by the Lunar Year, it’s only a couple of days left! How do you plan on celebrating?

Book Date – It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

What I read

  • On Wings of Blood 4.5 Stars – Really addictive, absolutely enjoyed the MCs dynamics and overall academy setting with vampires.
  • Chase the Dark 4 Stars – Loved this one out of the trilogy the most.
  • Bind the Soul 3.5 Stars – Wasn’t as thrilling as the first book but still enjoyed it somewhat, so I went on. The MCs where pretty enjoyable.
  • Yield the Night 3 Stars – Can’t remember, if I DNFd or actually finished it, mostly because it started to annoy me.

What am I currently reading

The Starlight Heir by Amalie Howard – 66%

  • Not sure what to think yet, as the first half of the book was really nice, but by the second half it only annoys me. Can’t wait to finish or just put it away at this point.

The Bond That Burns (Bloodwing Academy #2) by Briar Boleyn – 60%

  • Arrrgh, tricky one. I loved the first book, and waited eagerly for the sequel. However, so far it didn’t thrill me and there’s nothing new or anything about it. Can’t wait to finish or just put it away.

Onyx Storm (The Empyrean #3) by Rebecca Yarros – Addmittingly, I have waited for it and am partially curious how it turned out.
A Dagger in the Ivy by Dorothy Dreyer – This one sounds interesting, so I plan on reading it soon.
Behooved by M. Stevenson (May 2025) – It is to be released yet but so far my most anticipated read this year. As it’s a horse-shifter which I barely read about.

What I played

reddeadredemption2
Red Dead Redemption 2

My first open-world game for this year was Red Dead Redemption 2. And, even though this meme is about books, I absolutely have to mention it here, because I didn’t expect to love the game so much. It ruined me emotionally, which can be hard as I’m used to a lot but Arthur is such a bae and omg! Everyone who knows the game probably can relate. It’s just such an amazing game, loved it so, so much, and I’m still grieving here. Western isn’t necessarily my genre here, but RDR2 convinced me otherwise. And it has such great horse animations, priorities!

Do you know any of those mentioned books? Are you planning on reading any of them? Let me know in the comments, I’m curious!
